Our Surveyors
Managing Director, Mark Smout has been inspecting residential properties in Suffolk and Essex for 30 years. Mark is a qualified Chartered Surveyor who has worked for medium and large surveying companies before setting up MS Surveys in 2007. Mark is experienced in undertaking Market Valuations, RICS Home Surveys Levels 1, 2 and 3 (formerly Condition reports, Homebuyers and Building Surveys), and he specialises in period properties.
Senior Surveyor Lance Grainger is an experienced residential Chartered Surveyor in North Essex/ Suffolk. Lance has worked previously for corporate surveying companies before joining MS Surveys in 2019. Lance is experienced in undertaking Market Valuations, RICS Home Surveys Levels 1 & 2 (formerly Condition reports & Homebuyer Reports), and is proving very popular with our customers as can be seen by our testimonials.
Jonathan Steward joined the business in September 2021 as a Senior Surveyor. Jonathan has previously worked in large corporate surveying companies across the Essex and Suffolk area, and is a very knowledgable surveyor with a wealth of experience in undertaking Market Valuations, RICS Home Surveys Levels 1, 2 and 3 (formerly Condition reports, Homebuyers and Building Surveys), and he specialises in period properties.
We're delighted to announce that Ian Brindle joined MS Surveys in November 2024. An experienced Chartered surveyor, Ian has also worked in large corporate surveying firms across the area, and was the managing director of Better Prepared surveyors for the past 18 years. Ian is experienced in expert witness matters, leasehold extension valuations as well as other Market Valuations and the usual range of RICS Home surveys.
OUR SUPPORT TEAM
Our excellent support team is headed up by Beverley Flexen-Pallot who joined the business in 2014. Beverley is ably assisted by Nicky King who joined us in 2019. Beverley and Nicky can provide you with a survey quotation, book survey appointments, take payments and deal with all of the paperwork associated with your survey.

Financial matters are handled by Finance Director, Karen Smout, who supports the business on a part-time basis.
