A bank valuation is a survey - right? I'm afraid that's not correct!
Be aware, a basic mortgage valuation is carried out for the lender's purposes only, and not on the behalf of the borrower. It should therefore never be relied upon to detect issues with the property.
In this article, the buyers' lender carried out a desk-based automated valuation, no surveyor inspected the property, so subsidence wasn't reported, and the result is a big bill for the new home owners.
